Pre-Conference Workshops

Squeeze even more hands-on professional development out of your Elementary Technology Conference experience by joining us a day early for our Sunday pre-conference workshops. TCEA’s professional development team will be on deck to share incredible strategies and ideas for learning in the elementary classroom.

Available Pre-Conference Workshops:

Blended Learning in the Collaborative Classroom

Presented by Miguel Guhlin, TCEA

Explore how you can more easily implement blended learning through the use of multimedia text sets (MMTS), hyperdocs, and Google Suites for Education. Participants will spend time working on self-directed, collaborative inquiry-based learning projects. A variety of technical mini-lessons will scaffold participants efforts.

Makers in Motion

Presented by Peggy Reimers, TCEA

Are you ready to join the maker movement? It’s all about the maker mindset of creating something and exploring your own interests that’s at the core of a makerspace. These spaces help prepare students with critical job and life skills in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). We will bring all the supplies; you bring your creativity and curiosity.

Out-of-the-Box, Student-Centered Vocabulary Projects

Presented by Diana Benner, TCEA

Are you looking for new and innovative ways to help your students learn vocabulary? We all know that vocabulary lies at the heart of learning. To support the development of vocabulary in all content areas, we need to provide students with fresh, fun, and engaging lessons that are scaffolded for learners at different levels. Join me and experience out-of-the-box, student-centered vocabulary projects that will help your learners with vocabulary acquisition.

Technology Apps Make-and-Take

Presented by Dr. Bruce Ellis, TCEA

Enjoy hands-on learning as you experience different make-and-take centers that you can replicate in your classroom or lab. Swap out different content to easily expand the learning. We’ll bring the markers, paper, and scissors; you’ll just need to bring your laptop and/or device fully charged and ready.

Special registration is required for these events.
